Play Sample "Once a Day", from Chesapeake's latest album, Pier Pressure
In early 1996, Mike, along with Moondi Klein, and T. Michael Coleman, left the Seldom Scene bluegrass band and joined with Jimmy Gaudreau to form a brand new band called Chesapeake. This band features a unique blend of bluegrass, country, folk, blues and jazz musical styles....the very best in Americana.
The legendary Doc Watson says: "Chesapeake is one of the best bands I've listened to in a long time. They can take a tune like Shady Grove and make it sound contemporary without losing all the orginal flavor; or, take an old tune like Columbus Stockade and give it the good blues flavor that reminds you of the Allman Brothers. Yet, these songs are done in a style that is uniquely Chesapeake. They are great musicians who make truly great music."
Chesapeake is proud to be the host band for the annual Wings and Strings Music Festival at the Fantasy of Flight in Polk City, Florida, in November each year. Three days of top bands playing your favorite music, along with the world's largest collection of antique airplanes, all happening in a beautiful setting in sunny Florida. Great for the entire family! Check the schedule for the exact dates, and/or contact the Festival homepage at: Details
