This web site contains RealAudio and RealVideo clips taken from Mike Auldridge CD albums, CD albums by Chesapeake, Mike Auldridge audio and video dobro instruction cassettes, and a collection of dobro instrumentals from Mike's classic Basic Techniques for the Dobro Guitar Course, BA-1. The samples are provided in both RealAudio, RealVideo and Windows WAVE formats. RealAudio sound samples require appropriate play-back capability, such as provided by RealPlayer, which may be downloaded free of charge from Real Networks Download RealPlayer. A much-improved version, RealPlayer G2, is also available from RealNetworks, which features stereo sound and enhanced video. Additionally, the latest version, RealPlayer 5.0, with many enhancements, is also available. All players employ streaming technology which allows you to listen to the sound and video clips while downloading to your PC, thereby avoiding the long wait typical with WAVE files. Although presentations begin streaming soon after being selected, large files such as are found at this site still may take a minute or two to process.
Windows WAVE files are playable on Windows 3.1 systems and higher. WAVE files at this site are generally from 400K to 900K in size, and typically require 5 to 7 minutes to download to your PC, using a 28.8 modem connection. (Occasionally this wait can be longer) Although WAVE files take longer to download, they usually provide higher quality sound reproduction.

If you get an error message like "server not responding", or "server timeout", try clicking on the selection again, or come back to it later. Remember: a RealAudio file sometimes can take up to 60 seconds to begin playing, so be patient. Remember: Rhythm tracks for the songs are included to give you the opportunity to practice with your own band whenever you want to play! Audio files recorded in WAVE format involve a substantially longer wait-time to play compared to RealAudio files, because they must fully download to your PC before the playback process can begin. These are relatively large files, varing from 500K to 1 MB, which, depending upon modem speed and network conditions, will take from 5 to 8 minutes to download and play under the best of conditions - (like the middle of the night). During peak periods, when circuits are congested, these download times may increase. The audio quality, however, is superior to RealAudio files and, for some listeners, will be well worth the extra time involved. The quality of these video clips, however, although acceptable to illustrate teaching techniques, is not reflective of the high-quality of Mike Auldridge video courses which are professionally produced. We are continually working to improve the quality of these video clips.
